Preface
This is the first edition of No. 155 of a series of standards issued by Canadian Standards Association under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. It is written in SI (metric) units.
Incorporated in this edition are the following Electrical Bulletins:
No. 669, Construction and Test of Electric Duct Heaters for Comfort Heating, published March 6, 1967; and
No. 669B, Construction and Testing of Electric Duct Heaters, published April 4, 1968.
This Standard applies to stationary electric duct heaters for use in nonhazardous locations and for installaton in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.

This Standard was prepared by a Subcommittee of the Technical Committee on Environmental Products under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Canadian Electrical Code, Part II, and was formally approved by these Committees.
This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.
Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to stationary electric duct heaters for comfort heating rated at 600 V or less and 1000 kW and less, designed to be installed and used in nonhazardous locations in residential, commercial, and industrial applications, in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
Note: The Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, provides a limitation of 150 V to ground for space-heating equipment, with certain exceptions given to equipment for installation in apartments and similar multi-family dwellings.

This Standard does not apply to the ducts of a heating system in which duct heaters are employed.
1.3
This Standard does not apply to duct heaters when combined with other comfort-conditioning equipment.
1.4
This Standard does not apply to fan-coil units, radiant heating equipment, electric boilers, furnace plenum add-on heaters, or duct heaters for other than comfort use.
Note: For convenience, except where distinction is necessary, duct heaters are referred to throughout this Standard as heaters.
