Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to manually operated, general use switches to be used in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, that are
(a) for use on ac/dc and rated at not more than
(i) 60 A, at 250 V or less;
(ii) 30 A, at 251V
(iii) 2 hp, at 600 V or less; and
(b) for use on ac only and rated at not more than 30 A or 347 V.
1.2
This Standard does not apply to
(a) snap switches covered in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 55;
(b) dimmers covered in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 184;
(c) solid state, single-phase motor speed controls covered in C SA Standard C22.2 No. 156;
(d) industrial control equipment covered in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 14;
(e) clock operated switches covered in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 177; and
(f) switches for use in hazardous locations.
