B64.0-1.1
Vacuum breakers and backflow preventers covered by the CAN/CSA-B64 Series of Standards include only those devices that are designed for use in potable water supply systems to prevent cross-connections.
1.2
This Standard covers definitions, general requirements, test methods, marking, and instructions that are common to some or all of the CAN/CSA-B64 Series of Standards.
1.3
This is not a complete Standard in itself and must be used in conjunct ion with one of the other Standards in the CAN/CSA-B64 Series to form a complete Standard for a particular type of
vacuum breaker or backflow preventer.
1.4
Notes to the text do not include mandatory or alternative requirements. The purpose of a note is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material that is not properly a part of the Standard. Notes to figures and tables are to be considered part of the figure or table and are written as mandatory requirements. Legends to figures are to be considered mandatory requirements.
1.5
This Standard is written in SI (metric); for conversion tables, see Appendix A of this Standard. Vacuum is expressed in pressure below ambient.
B64.1.1-1.1
This Standard applies to vacuum breakers of the atmospheric type.
B64.1.2-1.1
This Standard applies to vacuum breaker assemblies of the pressure type.
Note: These devices are to be installed with two drip-tight shutoff valves (one on either side of the device) with
resilient seats in accordance with Clause 4.8 of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-B64.0.
B64.2-1.1
This Standard applies to vacuum breakers of the hose connection type (HCVB). HCVB devices incorporating a manual or automatic draining feature are covered in CSA Standards
CAN/CSA-B64.2.1 and CAN/CSA-B64.2.2, respectively.
B64.2.1-1.1
This Standard applies to vacuum breakers of the hose connection type. These devices incorporate a draining feature that requires manual operation.
B64.2.2-1.1
This Standard applies to vacuum breakers of the hose connection type. These devices incorporate an automatic draining feature that does not require manual operation.
B64.3-1.1
This Standard applies to backflow preventers of the DCAP type.
B64.4-1.1
This Standard applies to backflow preventer assemblies of the reduced pressure principle type.
Note: These devices are to be installed with two drip-tight shutoff valves (one on either side of the device) with
resilient seats in accordance with Clause 4.8 of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-B64.0.
B64.5-1.1
This Standard applies to backflow preventer assemblies of the double check valve type.
Note: These devices are to be installed with two drip-tight shutoff valves (one on either side of the device) with
resilient seats in accordance with Clause 4.8 of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-B64.0.
B64.6-1.1
This Standard applies to backflow preventers of the dual check valve type.
B64.7-1.1
This Standard applies to vacuum breakers for use on laboratory faucets.
1.2
Laboratory faucet vacuum breakers are installed on the discharge side of the last control valve and are not intended for use under constant pressure conditions.
B64.8-1.1
This Standard applies to backflow preventers of the dual check valve type with intermediate vent. These devices are designed to be used on individual outlets or appliances with flow rates of 0.25 L/s or less.
