Extensive charging infrastructure installation is necessary in order to accommodate and encourage the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). Existing buildings are restricted to their design requirements at the time of construction, which did not include support for EV charging. Currently, the absence of relevant product standards are a major barrier regarding adoption of this technology.

This report explains the challenges involved with adopting electric vehicles and offers solutions through product standards for electric vehicle energy management systems (EVEMS) configurations and control schemes.
