Continued advances in information and communications technology (ICT) have enabled the delivery of new and increasingly complex products and services. However, there is evidence to suggest that the general public, including both end users and regulators, are having difficulty understanding the potentially serious impacts the use of these technologies may have on their safety, security and privacy.

This report explores the role of a standards-based approach to address these concerns and how a potential solution would need to meet the concerns of multiple stakeholders from developers, to end-users, and policy-makers.
