As use of lithium-ion batteries increases in road vehicles and energy storage systems, cell and assembly costs will continue to decrease. This reduction in cost has opened the use of lithium-ion batteries in other motive power markets such as material handling, AGVs, and other traction power applications. UL 2580, the Standard for Safety on Batteries for Use in Electric Vehicles, is becoming a common requirement for these applications. Many of the product safety standards for these vehicles reference UL 2580 as the main battery standard to utilize.

Our webinar host, Michael Becker will walk you through:

  • Regulatory landscape, construction, and testing requirements for EV batteries covered under the scope of UL 2580
  • Key requirements, tests, and considerations of UL 2580 (including single cell failure design tolerance)
  • Overview of applicable standards for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment
  • Regulatory landscape for DC fast charging stations
