In 2024, Canadian Standards Association (CSA Group) engaged Innovation North, research lab at the Ivey Business School at Western University, to collaborate in an effort to conduct a systems-based analysis of the potential for standards to support the advancement of the Canadian bioeconomy. The project consisted of two main components: background research on the bioeconomy, including interviews with diverse actors directly or indirectly connected to the sector, and a workshop that brought together and engaged the bioeconomy industry and government leaders on the topic.

This report summarizes the key takeaways from the national workshop that discussed CSA Group’s roadmap for standardization for the bioeconomy sector and its alignment with the priorities of the sector.
