Accessing the Japanese Hazardous Locations (HazLoc) Market

CSA Group can now Issue Approvals to Help Speed up your Access to this $120 Million Market

In August 2015, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) announced a new scheme for Hazardous Locations, allowing Designated Foreign Certification Agencies (DFCAs) to issue Japanese approvals.

Up until recently, manufacturers residing outside of Japan often experienced a process that was highly complex, confusing, lengthy, and had little in the way of transparency. Through a mixture of demand and supply issues, technical resources, and language barriers, many Ex product manufacturers shied away from Japan as a target market when building their strategic growth plans.

In this white paper we explore:

  • Market size, trends and the regulatory landscape in Japan
  • The move to the new HazLoc regulations – what this means for manufacturers
  • The key aspects of the Japanese HazLoc scheme
