CSA International and Rexon Industrial Corp. Ltd. Announce Voluntary Recall of Craftsman Table Saw Guides

CSA International, in co-operation with Rexon Industrial Corp. Ltd., announces a voluntary recall of table saw rip fence assemblies. The rip fence – a metal guide that keeps material being sawed from shifting side to side as it passes through the cutting blade – can come loose, resulting in kickback of the material being sawed and possible injury to the operator.

The recall is limited to approximately 6,600 units sold by Sears stores across Canada between August 2002 and November 2004. The affected rip fence assembly was sold together with table saw model number 137.271380 under the Craftsman brand.

Rexon, on behalf of Sears, was not aware of any reported incidents in Canada of the rip fence bracket coming loose. Rexon is urging consumers to stop using the recalled assembly immediately unless otherwise instructed.

The rip fence of these saws is made of extruded aluminum and is approximately 79 centimeters (31” ) in length and has an over-locking handle with a black die-cast aluminum head.

Consumers having the recalled rip fence are asked to call the Sears Craftsman Helpline at 1-800-843-1682 between 8.30 a.m. and 7 p.m ET, Monday through Friday, to arrange for free replacement parts with instructions.
