CSA International and United Shoes Ltd. Announce the Voluntary Recall of Geronimo Matrix (C401) Protective Footwear

Toronto, Ontario – In cooperation with CSA International, United Shoe Ltd of Oakville, ON, announced today the voluntary recall of 1,995 pairs of theirGeronimo Matrix (C401) Protective Footwear. The recalled footwear does not comply with the CAN/CSA-Z195 Protective Footwear standard’s Grade 1 Toe impact requirement and could pose a threat of serious injury to the wearer.

Neither the manufacturer nor CSA International has received any reports of injuries related to this product.

The footwear affected by this recall is the Geronimo Matrix (C401) Protective Footwear outsole construction with CSA green labels having serial numbers 59851 through 59853. The footwear has a black polyurethane (PU) sole with a leather and suede upper. The marking “Geronimo” is placed on the outside surface of the tongue of each unit and the file number “LM177646″ and name “Matrix” appears on a label sewn on the inside of the tongue.

The protective footwear was sold at retail stores throughout Canada from September 2000 to December 2001 for approximately $110.

Consumers possessing this footwear should stop using it immediately and call United Shoes Ltd. collect at 1-905-825-8018 for instructions on how to obtain a replacement for the defective product. They may also write to United Shoes Ltd. at 1075 N. Service Rd. W., Suite 102, Oakville, ON L6M 2G2.
