CSA International and SSB Liquidation Depot Announce Important Consumer Safety Alert for Western Rugged Portable Air Compressor

CSA International and SSB Liquidation Depot announce an important consumer safety alert regarding “WESTERN RUGGED” portable air compressor imported by SSB Liquidation Depot in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. The portable air compressors pose a threat of injury and electrical shock hazard to users and bear unauthorized registered trademarks belonging to CSA International. These compressors are not certified by CSA International and consumers should stop using them immediately.

The portable air compressors are identified with the name “Western Rugged”, 2.5 HP and bear the unauthorized CSA trademark on a blue coloured tank. Investigation by CSA International has identified numerous deficiencies such as non-tested pressure vessel and relief valve, non-certified motor and pressure switch, substandard and exposed wiring, and poor corrosion protection. CSA International is not aware of any injury or damage reports involving this product.

SSB Liquidation Depot imported these portable air compressors from China and primary distribution was through outlets in British Columbia.
