Our international network of offices and laboratories offer you local services and guidance from experienced technical representatives who will oversee your project from start to finish.
Testing & certification
CSA provides you with complete testing & certification to the latest CSA, UL and IEC standards for the North American and international markets, including the latest standards addressing hazard-based designs as well as battery certification.
IEC 62368-1, the latest standard for ITE (Information Technology Equipment), is a hazard-based standard that is designed to identify the hazardous energy sources earlier in the product design phase and ensure that effective safeguards are in place to help prevent the transfer of these hazards. The hazards that are identified in IEC 62368-1 include:
- Electrically caused injury
- Electrically caused fire
- Hazard substance
- Mechanically caused injury
- Thermal burn injury
To help manufacturers identify if their products comply with IEC 62368-1 and to assist them in identifying possible hazards, CSA Group can walk you through a GAP analysis and conduct preliminary testing on the new standard.
If you are looking to have a product tested to IEC 60950-1, we can include in your assessment a TIS on IEC 62368-1 to help you prepare for your update.
Energy efficiency verification
We have earned U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognition as an ENERGY STAR® Testing Facility and Certification Body and are accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to verify that your product complies with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) regulations. The CSA Energy Verified mark informs consumers and retailers that your product complies with the latest NRCan and provincial energy efficiency requirements.
CSA Group actively engages in efforts dedicated to facilitating trade of electrical and electronic products, including participating in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the Council for Harmonization of Electrotechnical Standardization of the Nations of the Americas (CANENA). By participating in these international and regional forums, we are helping to eliminate technical barriers to trade, while ensuring that the requirements of local jurisdictions are also considered.
