Halogen light bulbs are very small, yet they produce a very bright light.
They're used in a range of lighting products, including some floor lamps, reading lights, grow lights, slide projectors, and outdoor lights.
Because halogen bulbs burn very hot, they can present a serious fire hazard if not used properly.
- A halogen lamp should never be used in a child's bedroom or playroom. You might tip it over and cause a fire.
- Never hang anything (such as a scarf or clothing) over a halogen lamp, even if it is turned off. The fabric could easily catch on fire.
- Never hang balloons, or other decorations near a halogen lamp.
- Keep halogen floor lamps away from bunk beds.
- Turn the lamp off when you leave the room.
- Do not try to replace the bulb of a halogen lamp by yourself. Get an adult to help you.
