CSA Group’s internationally-recognized portfolio of petroleum and natural gas standards solutions have served the needs of industry, government, regulators and the public at large for more than 45 years. Standards developed through this sector represents the technical requirements for compliance with regulation, a testament to the strength of our renowned standards development process. These standards promote and enhance the protection of people, the environment, and property. We work with multi-stakeholder committees across Canada and internationally representing industry, government, and general interest groups to develop oil & gas related standards and guidelines. More than 400 expert volunteers serve on over 20 committees to develop and maintain these important consensus-based standards, such as CAN/CSA Z662 – Oil & Gas Pipeline Systems, designated as a National Standard of Canada which serves as a benchmark for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of pipelines. Our sector supports additional standards covering subject areas such as liquefied natural gas, emergency preparedness and response, security management, damage prevention, emissions, well design, land use planning, and offshore structures. Many of these standards are incorporated by reference in provincial and federal regulations.
